I had checked my Blood Pressure today, I casually assured this nurse that I had and recently checked my pressure and it was about 200/190, I will never forget the immediate change in tone and concern in this nurse’s voice as they asked me - Do you think you can check it for me right now?  Honestly, I was a little agitated as I was in the kitchen about to cook dinner, but I did as they requested and checked it again, this time it was 206/196 (if I am correct, we can check emergency room records if necessary) I will never forget the calm tone as this nurse said: Ma’am, you need to get to the hospital nearest you. After my ER visit, this nurse continued to educate me, this nurse called and sent me tons of materials on Hypertension to increase my understanding, information on Hypertension, with ways to control it, ways to change my eating habits with healthy alternatives filled with water, fruits and vegetables, daily exercise, all of which, I now realize that this nurse was instrumental in helping me to save my life. This nurse sent me so much information that I started a book with the knowledge this nurse had given me, (Great information, just wanted to retain the knowledge) not knowing that less than a month later I would have to share this book with my sister (age 74) who was experiencing her blood pressure on the rise, It was because of this nurse that I was able to identify she was in immediate danger! I instructed her son (as this nurse had instructed me - Get her to the nearest hospital! My sister has just recently been discharged from the hospital in Camden, SC where she had spent 3 days in ICU, and 2 days on the ward because of hypertension.  I feel that not only did this nurse help me to save my life, but this nurse also helped save my sister’s life as well. I am forever grateful to this nurse, and the program that you oversee. I have been seen at this hospital for over 20 years, yet this is the first time I have received care of this caliber and with genuine concern. So, on behalf of myself and my sister (who by the way is home still learning and recovering) thank you for the service and thank God for this nurse.  

My name is Melinda Price, and I am a Believer in Jesus Christ. I was seen by Dr. Rochelle Windley in 2022. Through her assistance, I was able to get off the blood pressure medication that I was on for two years. I was diagnosed with Covid in January 2022. My blood pressure was very high. And I felt like I could not control it. Unbeknownst to me, I later found out that I have allergies that caused an anxiety attack that caused my blood pressure to spike to the 170-180’s. Dr. Windley believed in me from the first time I spoke to her. She spoke the Word of God to me to let me know that God is in charge and will carry me through the storm. Her Faith, encouragement, and love, as well as my family, uplifted me to a new height in my Faith in God. I had a lot of ups and downs, and there were times I begged God to heal me from what I was going through.
Where I am standing today, I see that my Faith was nowhere near where it is today. Instead of begging God as if He did not hear my cries the first time, I should have been Praising Him for delivering me from not only Covid and high blood pressure but also saving me from my flesh. My flesh was a worry wort and a constant thorn in my side. I was not battling Covid; I was fighting myself. When you think you are walking correctly with God, you discover how deep your Faith is when you go through trials and tribulations, especially regarding your health. Today, I have denied my flesh and rededicated my entire life to God. There is no other place I would rather be than in the Goodness of God!
